Fahrner-Schmuck from Pforzheim was not only a household name during the Art Nouveau period, but also during the midcentury. Of course, the style had changed. Interesting and unusual structures and daring volumes were now in demand. This brooch is a fine example of this. It appears as a flowing band that is divided into two lines. Unlike in previous decades, it is not marcasites that sparkle, but highly refractive rhinestones that set the waves and almost look like diamonds. Since the early years of the company, traveling salesmen with large sample cases have presented the new products developed in Pforzheim to local jewelers every year. One such sample case had lain untouched in an attic for more than 40 years until it was offered to us. It contained samples of almost all series from around 1919 until the company was dissolved in 1979, mostly with a model number or the "Original Fahrner" seal. This piece of jewelry from the 1960s comes from this sample case and is therefore unworn and in perfect condition. Discover all the other pieces of Fahrner jewellery we offer here. A wonderful overview is provided by the catalog "Theodor Fahrner. Jewelry between avant-garde and tradition", edited by Brigitte Leonhardt and Dieter Zühlsdorff, Stuttgart 2005.
