Preserving Tradition
W

e regularly come across pieces of jewellery that have been loved a little too much. This can be a part of a devant de corsage that is not in use today, a button set with diamonds or a single historical gemstone that is no longer wearable in this way. But even if the original function has been lost - in our minds the piece often triggers a wealth of stories and still tells of the artistry of its creators.

The designs of our workshop are made of sustainable materials.

We have kept some of these finds, bought some specifically and brought others back to us. Together with some talented goldsmiths here in Berlin who are specialised in working on and with historical jewellery, we have now breathed new life into these objects.

In this way, we try to preserve the historical objects and at the same time preserve the old craftsmanship techniques through which all our wonderful pieces of jewellery could be created in the first place. Because many techniques, skills and also the historical sense of form are in danger of dying out today, when almost all jewellery is automated and produced by machines.

In this category you will find all those pieces of jewellery that were created in our workshop. They range from engagement rings with historic diamonds to designs that revive fragments of old pieces.

What they all have in common is that they were created with great love for history and thus tell stories themselves. Because, to paraphrase Thomas More: “Tradition is not the preservation of ashes, but the preservation of fire.”
