Description
A cultured pearl necklace - is there a more classic wish in the world of jewellery? The fulfilment of this dream was made possible by the Japanese Kokishi Mikimoto. In the early 1920s, his method of cultivating full-round pearls was so advanced that the cultured pearl necklace could begin its unstoppable triumphal march. As a result, the cultured pearl necklace became a classic part of the 20th century jewellery wardrobe. This necklace presents an impressive array of high-quality pearls. The 95 shimmering golden saltwater cultured pearls are extremely large for Akoya pearls, with diameters ranging from 9.1 to 9.5 millimetres. The pearls are also very well matched in terms of colour, shimmering warmly in an elegant golden tone, partly with a rosy and partly with a green overlay. Their shape is slightly baroque to more baroque, with some very clear growth marks on the surface. The lustre is consistently good to very good. The yellow gold clasp set with ten small diamonds matches the colour of the pearls perfectly. It has a waisted, loop-shaped design and was created in the 1950s. The pearls were probably replaced more recently. We have had the necklace restrung and knotted. With a length of around 98.0 cm, it can be worn long or doubled around the neck.
