Description
The second volume of the Educational Library for German Daughters, published in Augsburg in 1834, contains a chapter on "flower language". In the Biedermeier period, this was a common means of non-verbal communication and much of it has been preserved in proverbs and sayings to this day. At that time, young lovers in particular were unable to express their thoughts clearly in public and were thus unable to express their affection and dislike clearly in words. The language of flowers therefore became an important means of communication without words. The meaning of this flower can now also be found in the volume under the keyword "daisy". The meadow plant stands for gentleness, joyful, playful youth, pure and quiet joy, as well as for modesty and love. We were reminded of this ancient meaning of the daisy when we acquired this vintage ring from around 1970. A fine diamond of around 0.28 carats shines in the centre of the composition, surrounded by a ring of ten smaller diamonds. The diamonds surround the centre stone like the petals of a daisy and together all the stones glow with a beautiful fire. The surrounding stones alternate between brilliant and octagonal cuts A total of around 0.78 ct of diamonds are set.
